Murillo holds an undergraduate degree in geoscience and a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Her doctoral work focused on data sharing and reuse within large scientific data cyberinfrastructures. Following her Ph.D., she worked as a Research and Development Information Scientist at Novozymes. Currently, Murillo is an Assistant Professor at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University- Indianapolis and is the Director of the Data Science undergraduate program.
