Webinar: Engaging with CI Compass ft. Anirban Mandal

"Engaging with CI Compass" featuring Anirban Mandal was originally hosted as a live webinar on February 7, 2022.

Dr. Anirban Mandal serves as the associate director for the CI Compass project. He is an assistant director for Network Research and Infrastructure at Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His primary focus is research on distributed systems and scientific computing. He leads several efforts in cyberinfrastructure research in support of science: cloud computing, networking and scientific workflows. His research focuses on resource provisioning, scheduling, performance analysis, and anomaly detection for large scale scientific cyberinfrastructure, next generation networks and experimental testbeds.

Abstract: “CI Compass, the NSF Cyberinfrastructure Center of Excellence (CICoE), provides expertise and active support to cyberinfrastructure (CI) practitioners at NSF Major Facilities (MFs) in order to accelerate their data lifecycle (DLC). CI Compass works with MFs by contributing knowledge and offering expertise in a number of CI areas critical to the MF DLC including data management, data processing, visualization, identity management, systems, and cyberinfrastructure design and implementation. These CI Compass activities are structured as Deep Engagements with MFs, where the CI Compass team offers its expertise for specific CI issues, learns from the MF, and then distills and disseminates the lessons learned during the engagement to other MFs and the broader CI community. The webinar will describe how MFs can engage with CI Compass, the potential types of CI challenges we can help with, and how to begin the process of engaging with our team. This webinar will present examples of past engagements and how such engagements were beneficial to the MFs and the CI community.”
